This year marked a pivotal moment in our history thanks to a generous gift from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, which enabled us to partner with FSG, a third-party firm, to develop a comprehensive regional mental wellbeing strategy.
We challenged FSG to listen to the often-unheard voices in our community, focus on Texoma’s strengths through an “assets lens,” and identify proven methods to enhance mental wellbeing across our region. Together with our board, team, and community members, we defined what wellbeing means for Texoma, explored what is working, and identified areas for growth. This collaborative effort has resulted in a strategic roadmap for each county and the region, complete with measurable goals to track our impact.
After more than two decades as President and CEO, I can confidently say this is the strongest strategic plan I’ve been part of. It is also unique in that it extends beyond our foundation’s work—it was intentionally designed with and for our community, inviting others to join us on this journey.
It is an honor to do this work alongside passionate and talented individuals in a region I am proud to call home. One sentiment from this year’s interviews has resonated deeply with me: “The Texoma community is connected and supportive of one another.” We call this the “Heart of Texoma,” and it remains our guiding light as we move forward together.
